BEATNIK AND SENDO SHOUT "LET ME ENTERTAIN YOU!"
New Sendo X multimedia smartphone uses Beatnik Audio Engine to provide the ultimate in mobile audio entertainment - including high fidelity music playback, custom game sounds and awesome ringtones.
San Mateo, CA December 22, 2003 -- Beatnik, Inc., today announced that the new Sendo X multimedia smartphone incorporates the Beatnik Audio Engine to enable incredible application sound effects and awesome polyphonic ringtones. Unlike other audio solutions, the Beatnik Audio Engine (BAE) generates sounds that have been created from samples of real instruments and voices, allowing consumers to enjoy full, rich, high fidelity audio on their mobile phones.
The Sendo X creates a new benchmark in audio multimedia capabilities, offering best in class performance with a 64 voice polyphonic capability and a high-quality, scientifically designed dual acoustic chamber speaker system incorporating Sendo's SoniX™ technology. Together with Beatnik's audio engine technology, the Sendo X delivers among the most realistic ringtones of any phone available today. The Beatnik Audio Engine perfectly complements the multimedia emphasis of the phone, and allows consumers to listen to high fidelity music clips, play games with arcade-quality sound effects, assign custom sounds to phone tasks and download the best polyphonic ringtones available - including those with real voice samples.
"The Beatnik Audio Engine is the industry standard for mobile audio and is already in use by millions of users worldwide," said Jeremy Copp, Chief Sales Officer at Beatnik. "The integration of our technology with the innovative smartphone design from Sendo allows consumers to enjoy the very best premium audio services that network operators, application developers and ringtone composers can provide today."
Susan Macke, Sendo's Vice President Smartphones, said: "The combination of the class-leading Sendo X technical design with the high quality audio synthesis and open industry standard file format support provided by the Beatnik Audio Engine ensures a great audio performance for the user, and real revenue generation opportunities for service providers."
Technical/For Developers
Beatnik's technology provides the audio subsystem for a wide range of mobile phones from industry-leading manufacturers. It supports playback of open industry standard audio formats, including MIDI, SPMIDI, RMF, XMF, DLS, WAV and raw PCM audio, allowing developers to integrate a wide range of audio content in their applications.
Beatnik offers a suite of content creation tools - the Beatnik Editor and Beatnik Mobile Sound Builder - through its website, www.beatnik.com, which enable developers to build revenue-generating audio services based on industry standards such as SP-MIDI, DLS, RMF and XMF. Metrowerks also provides a Software Development Kit to allow developers to integrate Beatnik audio into games and other applications. The SDK is initially available for download from the Metrowerks CodeWarrior website and will be incorporated in version 3.0 of Metrowerks' CodeWarrior for Symbian OS toolset.
